Downgrade Protection stops you from accidentally overwriting a newer change with an older one during import.

When it runs, it looks for other transport requests that contain the **same objects** and were **released in the last 90 days but not yet imported** into the target system. If it finds two transports with overlapping objects that would be imported in the wrong order, it flags an error — because importing them out of sequence would downgrade an object (roll it back to an older version).

The important thing is how to respond when it fires: the fix is **sequencing, not bypassing**. Open the details to see which other transport touches the same object, work out which one should land first, import in the correct order, and re-validate. Forcing an out-of-sequence import past the check is exactly what the check exists to prevent.

It’s one of five validation checks ReleaseOwl runs on a transport — the others being Release Status, Cross Reference (dependencies), Cross Release, and Critical Object.
